Our alpacas are a great source of interest. Sometimes referred to as "long neck sheep". This is of course is not at all true. Alpaca's have hair rather than wool, and its not oily like sheep wool. The Alpaca belong to the camelid family and has soft padded feet similar to a camel, and originate from South America.
Here in Australia farmers often keep an Alpaca with the sheep. They are a great protector during lambing season and will chase off any threat, such as foxes and dogs. They have great hearing and even better sight, so they don't miss a trick.
